How BTC chapters work

Local leadership. Shared purpose.

Built to move
with more than us.

BTC is being organized so a local team can host a great gathering without a founder in the room. Clear responsibilities and a reliable backup keep the chapter moving.

One organization.
Many capable teams.

Founding team

Sets the mission, approves chapter launches, supports local leaders and reviews shared standards.

Chapter lead

Coordinates the local team and calendar, welcomes members and keeps the chapter connected to BTC.

Co-lead / deputy

Shares the work, keeps the plan current and takes over when the chapter lead is unavailable.

Event host & backup

Run the specific gathering: preparation, welcome, attendance, practical communication and follow-up.

Culture & community team

Develops cultural programming and local relationships with people who know their communities.

Travel support

Team Vacay handles travel quotes, booking arrangements and payment workflows through approved channels.

Every gathering needs a plan.

  1. Name the team. Assign an approved host and backup before announcing the event.
  2. Agree the details. Confirm the purpose, venue, accessibility information, capacity and any costs with BTC.
  3. Make it clear. Share a verified event page, RSVP or booking path and the local contact.
  4. Host with care. Welcome attendees, use the agreed escalation contact and respect member privacy.
  5. Close the loop. Record attendance appropriately, share feedback and plan the next gathering.

From interest to a supported local team

A clear handoff
at every stage.

  1. A review owner and next action. The founding team records who is reviewing an application and when to follow up.
  2. An onboarding checklist. The team reviews role expectations, standards, tools, permissions and the backup plan.
  3. A first-event brief. The local host prepares the date, venue, RSVP path, cost plan, accessibility information and escalation contact.
  4. A readiness review. The founding team reviews the plan before the normal event approval and publishing steps.
  5. A local handoff. The host and a different backup keep the plan current and share a short debrief after the gathering.

Shared founding oversight

Two founders.
One clear approval path.

Antonio “Tone” Barnes and Demetrius Walker must both approve leader selection, chapter launch and the first event. Each records a separate decision against the version reviewed. Material changes require fresh approvals for the affected stage.

After the first event, approved local teams can manage routine gatherings within BTC’s agreed standards. Founder attendance is optional and must be confirmed before it is announced.
